TechFlow news, on March 25, according to Jinshi Data, after the last Federal Reserve interest rate decision, U.S. President Trump has repeatedly urged the Fed to cut rates. As concerns grow over Trump's trade agenda, he is eager for the Federal Reserve to accelerate rate cuts to ease economic pressure. In turn, the Fed is preparing for potential price shocks from Trump's tariffs, which could delay any rate cuts—even if the economy weakens.
So far, Trump’s frustration with the Fed has remained mild. Although he has criticized the central bank since it paused rate cuts last Thursday, he has not yet issued direct threats.
Trump has taken aggressive steps to strengthen his control over the government and reshape it according to his political will. A source close to the White House said that Trump might attempt to fire Powell. The source added: "I don't think Powell will leave voluntarily. Trump may try to remove him, but I also believe Powell is secure enough and impressive enough that he won’t step down willingly."
When asked whether the administration believes it has the authority to dismiss Fed officials—following the firing of two Federal Trade Commission commissioners—and whether Trump still intends for Powell to serve out his term, the White House declined to provide new comments.
