TechFlow reported on March 20 that Ben Zhou, co-founder of Bybit, released a new update on the tracking progress of funds stolen in the hack. The hacker has begun using multiple mixing services, including Wasabi, CryptoMixer, Railgun, and TornadoCash. The total amount of stolen funds is approximately $1.4 billion (around 500,000 ETH), with the current status as follows:
-
88.87% still traceable;
-
7.59% now untraceable;
-
3.54% already frozen;
Zhou further disclosed that 86.29% (440,091 ETH, worth approximately $1.23 billion) of the stolen funds have been converted into 12,836 BTC, distributed across 9,117 wallets (averaging 1.41 BTC per wallet).
Zhou noted that decoding mixer transactions remains the primary challenge. Over the past 30 days, they received 5,012 bounty reports, of which 63 were valid. He called for more bounty hunters capable of decoding mixer services to join and provide assistance.
