TechFlow news — On March 14, according to CoinDesk, despite the cryptocurrency market benefiting from the "Trump effect" toward the end of 2024, U.S. AI sector funding in the first quarter of 2025 still significantly outpaced that of the crypto industry.
Data from PitchBook shows that U.S. cryptocurrency venture investments amounted to approximately $861 million in the first three months of 2025, while the AI sector attracted nearly $20 billion in funding. The AI sector completed a total of 795 deals, including Databricks' $15.3 billion and Anthropic's $2 billion major financings.
Historical data indicates that venture capital has consistently favored AI over cryptocurrency. AI funding rose from $670 million in 2011 to $36 billion in 2020. Cryptocurrency funding briefly surpassed AI only in 2021, but AI quickly regained momentum, exceeding $100 billion in funding by 2024.
