TechFlow news, on March 14, according to CoinDesk, after two rounds of testing issues with Ethereum's upcoming Pectra upgrade, core developers decided on March 13 to create a new testnet to conduct a final validation of the code updates before deployment. Tim Beiko, core developer coordinator at the Ethereum Foundation, said after Thursday's developer call: "The new testnet Hooli will go live on Monday, March 17, to complete Pectra testing." Pectra will be tested on Hooli on March 26.
If Hooli testing is successful, Beiko said developers would proceed with launching the upgrade in approximately 30 days, meaning Ethereum users can expect Pectra to reach the mainnet by the end of April or early May. The Hooli testnet was created because Pectra encountered configuration errors on the Sepolia and Holesky testnets, hindering normal testing. In the case of Holesky, the network was offline for several weeks due to testing problems.
