TechFlow News, March 7 — According to an official announcement, BNB Chain will implement the Pascal hard fork upgrade on the mainnet on March 20 at 02:10 UTC (10:10 Beijing time). The upgrade was successfully deployed on the testnet on February 25, making BNB Chain one of the earliest blockchains to adopt the EIP-7702 Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) upgrade.
The Pascal hard fork is a major upgrade for BNB Smart Chain (BSC), enhancing EVM compatibility and introducing EIP-7702 to enable fee abstraction, smart contract wallet functionality, batch transactions, and improved user experience, while offering greater flexibility for developers. Node operators, validators, and exchanges must upgrade to version v1.5.7 (BSC) or v0.5.2/v0.5.6 (opBNB) prior to the hard fork to maintain compatibility.
BNB Chain emphasized that node operators and validators must upgrade to v1.5.7, exchanges and infrastructure providers must ensure compatibility before the hard fork, and developers should test and update their dApps to support the new transaction types. Nodes that fail to upgrade may be unable to sync after March 20.
