TechFlow News, according to Cointelegraph, the Dantewada district administration in Chhattisgarh, India announced on March 6 that it has digitized over 700,000 land records dating back to the 1950s through its land records office and stored them on the Avalanche blockchain to ensure transparency and prevent tampering. The project was implemented in collaboration with Indian blockchain startup LegitDoc by Zupple Labs.
Dantewada District Magistrate Mayank Chaturvedi said: "For decades, our citizens have faced significant delays in accessing land records, with verification sometimes taking weeks. By digitizing these records and securing them on blockchain, we’ve ensured they are easily accessible and tamper-proof."
As part of the initiative, the government has installed kiosks in each sub-division of the district where citizens and government officials can access land information. LegitDoc CEO Neil Martis said the application is a permissioned platform, with record access granted through sub-divisional revenue officers. The system enables users to search land properties, download and view digitized records stored on the blockchain, and verify the associated smart contracts via Avalanche Explorer.
