TechFlow news, on March 5, according to the official Ethereum Foundation blog, the Ethereum Sepolia testnet successfully activated the Pectra network upgrade at epoch 222464 on March 5 at 15:29 Beijing time (UTC 7:29). However, technical issues subsequently emerged, causing multiple execution layer clients to be unable to include transactions in blocks.
The issue was traced back to the permissioned deposit contract on Sepolia. It was identified within minutes, and client teams immediately began working on fixes. The Ethereum development team emphasized that this problem is confined to the Sepolia testnet configuration and will not affect the Ethereum mainnet.
By approximately 22:00 Beijing time on March 5 (UTC 14:00), validators had deployed a fix, successfully restoring the network to normal throughput. All Sepolia node operators are now required to upgrade their execution layer clients to maintain network compatibility, including versions Erigon v3.0.0-rc2, go-ethereum v1.15.5, Nethermind v1.31.4, and Reth v1.2.2. The updated Besu version will be announced later.
The official statement added that once the incident is fully resolved, a detailed post-mortem report will be provided in the Pectra project management folder.
