TechFlow news, according to Jinshi News, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Lutnick said in a media interview on March 5 local time that President Trump would be open to tariffs if Canada could stop fentanyl.
Lutnick said Trump is considering which industries could receive tariff relief for Canada. He will discuss with Trump on the 5th and expects an announcement to be made that afternoon. Lutnick added that tariffs will remain at 25%, but certain categories may be excluded.
He also said that compliance with the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement is under review, and negotiations on the agreement will resume in 2026.
