TechFlow reported on March 1 that Web3 security firm SlowMist warned on the X platform about the spreading "Safeguard" variant attacks on Telegram. Users should be cautious of unsolicited messages falsely claiming "account risks" or pushing fake security checks. The attack process is as follows:
-
Sending you a Telegram message;
-
Tricking you into "verifying" certain information;
-
You enter your login verification code;
-
Your session information is obtained;
-
Your account is then compromised.
Next, scammers will search your chatbots for private keys. If they fully take over your account, they may also impersonate you and defraud your contacts.
