TechFlow reports on February 25, according to CoinDesk, Ethereum's latest upgrade Pectra activated on the Holesky testnet late on February 24 but failed to achieve finality as expected. The upgrade includes 11 key improvement proposals (EIPs), with core proposal EIP-7702 aiming to enhance cryptocurrency wallet user experience, and EIP-7251 increasing the maximum validator staking limit from 32 ETH to 2,048 ETH.
Currently, Ethereum developers are investigating the cause of the failed finality via the Eth R&D Discord channel. The next testing round on the Sepolia testnet was originally scheduled for March 5, but Galaxy Research Vice President Christine Kim indicated that depending on the severity of this issue, the development team might delay the testing timeline.
Notably, this is not the first time such an issue has occurred on an Ethereum testnet. In January 2024, the Dencun upgrade also failed to achieve finality on the Goerli testnet. The development team will determine the mainnet upgrade date after completing tests on both testnets.
