TechFlow reports on February 20 that, according to The Block, decentralized staking protocol EigenLayer, prediction market platform Polymarket, and decentralized oracle protocol UMA have announced a collaboration to jointly develop a next-generation oracle system. This system will be built on EigenLayer's infrastructure, leveraging its staking mechanism and EIGEN token to verify truth claims through "intersubjective consensus," a method relying on community agreement rather than purely objective data.
EigenLayer’s technology enables users to reuse staked ETH or liquid staking tokens to secure additional services such as oracles, while still benefiting from Ethereum network security. Polymarket currently uses UMA’s optimistic oracle system for market settlements and has successfully processed over 10,000 prediction markets, with the vast majority of outcomes undisputed. The collaborative project is still in the research and development phase, and specific technical architecture and launch timelines have not yet been disclosed.
