TechFlow News, February 13 — According to Cointelegraph on February 11, President Trump has nominated former cryptocurrency executive Jonathan Gould to serve as Comptroller of the Currency at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) for a five-year term.
Gould previously served as Chief Legal Officer at blockchain infrastructure firm Bitfury and was also Senior Deputy Comptroller and Chief Counsel at the OCC during Trump's first administration. Kristin Smith, CEO of the Blockchain Association, said Gould's experience in the crypto industry will help him effectively lead the OCC.
As the regulator of national banks in the United States, the OCC oversees member banks of the Federal Reserve System, including JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America.
