TechFlow news — On February 13, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman shared a new roadmap on X, revealing that OpenAI will first release GPT-4.5, internally codenamed Orion, which will be the last non-"chain-of-thought" model.
Following this, the company will focus on unifying the o-series and GPT-series models to build a general-purpose system capable of leveraging all tools and autonomously determining its reasoning duration. GPT-5 will be released as an integrated system within ChatGPT and the API, incorporating multiple technologies including o3, which will no longer be launched as a standalone model.
Regarding user access, free users will receive unlimited chat access to GPT-5 at a standard intelligence level (subject to abuse thresholds), while Plus and Pro subscribers will gain access to progressively higher intelligence levels. The new model will fully integrate features such as voice, canvas, search, and deep research, aiming to deliver a more streamlined and unified AI experience.
