TechFlow reports that on February 6, SlowMist's Yu Xian published an analytical comparison between two generations of cryptocurrency phishing groups. Traditional phishing groups (such as Inferno/Angel/Monkey/Pink) primarily focus on technical demonstrations and operate across multiple blockchain ecosystems including ETH, Solana, and BTC. In contrast, the newer CA launch-style phishing groups concentrate heavily on emotional manipulation, predominantly active within the Solana ecosystem.
They also differ in monetization models: traditional phishing groups incentivize distribution teams through revenue sharing, with commissions reaching 80%-90%. CA launch-style phishing operations typically earn around 100 SOL per scam but conduct attacks at a higher frequency, mainly leveraging tactics such as compromised exchange accounts and mimicking token airdrops to generate FOMO.
