TechFlow reported on February 5 that, according to Coindesk, Caroline Pham, acting chair of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), announced a restructuring of the enforcement division to "re-focus" on fraud prevention.
The reorganization streamlines enforcement into two task forces: the Complex Fraud Task Force and the Retail Fraud and General Enforcement Task Force. The Complex Fraud Task Force will be led by Deputy Director of Enforcement Paul Hayeck in an acting capacity, while the Retail Fraud and General Enforcement Task Force will be headed by Deputy Director of Enforcement Charles Marvine. Pham stated that this simplified structure will end the practice of "regulation by enforcement" and enable more effective use of CFTC resources.
