TechFlow reports on February 3, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York announced that two executives from Hubei Amware Biotechnology Co., Ltd. in China, Qingzhou Wang and Yiyi Chen, were convicted of illegally exporting fentanyl precursors and money laundering. During the operation, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) seized seven website domains linked to the case and four cryptocurrency accounts involving approximately $900,000 in digital assets.
Prosecutors accused the defendants of attempting to export hundreds of kilograms of fentanyl precursor chemicals to the United States through cryptocurrency payments. Acting DEA Administrator Maritz emphasized that criminals will be held accountable regardless of their location. The two defendants face a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
