TechFlow news, January 31 — According to Cointelegraph, a court in Manchester, UK, has sentenced seven gang members for kidnapping and extorting cryptocurrency investors.
Between January and November 2023, the criminals carried out multiple kidnappings, assaults, and threats against victims, extorting approximately £100,000 (around $124,000) worth of cryptocurrency.
Jonathan Newns and David Povey were each sentenced to 20 years in prison, while the other members received sentences ranging from 13 years and 6 months to 2 years and 4 months.
