TechFlow news, January 31 — According to Bitcoin.com News, a man in South Africa has been arrested on charges of sending approximately $600 worth of bitcoin (BTC) to an Islamic State (IS)-affiliated group in Syria. The man will now be released after the court granted his bail application. The Lichtenburg Magistrate's Court ruled that prosecutors failed to demonstrate that suspect Ziyadh Hoorzook posed a flight risk, setting his bail at 30,000 rand (approximately $1,616).
Hoorzook denies the charges, stating he was unaware in 2017 that the Syrian charitable organization he donated to was linked to a terrorist group. He was only arrested earlier this year.
