TechFlow reported on January 30, according to CoinDesk, that the T3 Financial Crime Investigation Unit—comprising Tron, Tether, and TRM Labs—assisted Spanish authorities in successfully dismantling a transnational European financial crime syndicate.
The Spanish Civil Guard stated that the criminal group operated across multiple European jurisdictions, providing cash-to-cryptocurrency money laundering services for illicit enterprises.
During the operation, law enforcement arrested 23 individuals and froze approximately $26.4 million in funds, marking the largest coordinated asset freeze action involving T3 since its establishment. Europol revealed that the criminal network primarily consisted of nationals from Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan.
