TechFlow news, January 21 — According to CoinDesk, President Donald Trump has selected Caroline Pham, a Republican member of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), to serve as acting chair of the U.S. derivatives regulator. Pham, a former Wall Street banker who previously served as staff and commissioner at the agency, succeeds outgoing Democratic Chair Rostin Behnam.
Confirmed by Pham, she will assume the role of acting chair during a pivotal moment of potential transition for the agency. Much of the early legislative groundwork establishing a roadmap for digital assets—aimed at positioning the CFTC as the primary regulator for trading markets of Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH)—is expected to form the foundation for the new Congress's crypto initiatives.
