TechFlow news, January 17 — According to court documents, the FBI successfully thwarted a kidnapping-for-ransom plot targeting a Miami jeweler, in which the criminal group intended to steal $2 million worth of cryptocurrency from the victim.
Four suspects—Evan Puckett, Tre'von Anthony Neal, Zacary Briggs, and Aaron Hammond—have been arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit kidnapping and attempted kidnapping. The group's leader, known as "Jack," allegedly orchestrated the kidnapping plan via Telegram and referred to the members as "enforcers."
The suspects originally planned to carry out the kidnapping on January 13, armed with a Mac-10 and a .223-caliber assault rifle. After receiving a tip-off, the FBI installed tracking and recording devices on the vehicle used for the abduction, leading to the successful arrest of all suspects. The four are currently in custody awaiting trial and are scheduled to appear in court Tuesday in Florida.
