TechFlow news, on January 16, according to CoinDesk, Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said during his visit to Abu Dhabi that the country is considering introducing legislation on cryptocurrency and blockchain. As reported by The New Straits Times, Anwar stated that discussions have already taken place with the Abu Dhabi government and Binance regarding policy proposals, expressing a preference to "not only approve but also accelerate progress."
Previously, Malaysia collaborated with the Bank for International Settlements and others in 2023 on research into CBDC cross-border payments, and plans to build national-level blockchain infrastructure. The country had previously required Binance and Huobi to cease local operations in 2021 and 2023 respectively.
