TechFlow News, January 16 — Reuters reported that Israel and Hamas have formally reached a ceasefire agreement for Gaza, set to take effect on January 19. The first phase of the agreement will last six weeks and includes the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from central Gaza, allowing displaced Palestinians to return to northern Gaza. During this period, Hamas will release 33 Israeli hostages, including all women, children, and men aged 50 or older. In exchange, Israel will release all Palestinian women and children under the age of 19 detained since October 7, 2023.
Negotiations for the second phase will begin on the 16th day after the start of the first phase, focusing on the release of remaining hostages and achieving a permanent ceasefire.
The third phase will involve the repatriation of human remains and the initiation of reconstruction efforts under the supervision of Egypt, Qatar, and the United Nations.
