TechFlow reported on January 13 that, according to Bitcoin Magazine, BlackRock has launched the iShares Bitcoin ETF on the Canadian CBOE exchange. The product trades in Canadian dollars under the ticker IBIT and also offers a U.S. dollar trading unit (IBIT.U). The new fund will track bitcoin's price performance by investing in the U.S.-listed iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (U.S. IBIT).
Helen Hayes, Head of iShares Canada at BlackRock, said the move aims to provide Canadian investors with a convenient and low-cost way to gain exposure to bitcoin, while avoiding the operational and custodial complexities associated with directly holding bitcoin.
