TechFlow news, January 10 — According to Jinshi News, John Mbadi, Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Finance, said on Friday that Kenya is preparing legislation to legalize cryptocurrency, marking a significant shift in government stance. Kenya currently bans the use of cryptocurrencies, yet the public continues to widely adopt them underground to circumvent restrictions.
"The emergence and development of virtual assets and virtual asset service providers have introduced innovation into local and international financial systems, bringing dynamic opportunities and challenges," Mbadi stated in a declaration outlining the new policy.
