TechFlow reported on January 8, according to Bloomberg, that EU Digital Affairs Commissioner Henna Virkkunen and Justice Commissioner Michael McGrath sent a letter to the European Parliament, pledging to "actively advance" the investigation into X platform's compliance with the Digital Services Act (DSA).
The investigation focuses on X platform's content moderation mechanisms and algorithmic recommendation systems, particularly whether it promotes far-right political content. The European Commission stated it will complete the investigation as soon as possible in accordance with the law, and if violations are confirmed, X platform could face fines of up to 6% of its global annual revenue.
