TechFlow news, January 4 — According to Cointelegraph, Solana developers have announced the launch of the quantum-resistant Solana Winternitz Vault, implementing a hash-based signature system to defend against potential threats from quantum computers.
Dean Little, Chief Scientist at Zeus Network, explained that this solution enhances security by generating a new key for each transaction. Currently offered as an optional feature, users must actively deposit funds into the Winternitz Vault to obtain quantum resistance. The solution utilizes the Keccak256 Merkle root algorithm and enables secure fund transfers through a split-vault mechanism.
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has previously stated that quantum computers will not pose a significant threat to cryptocurrencies within at least the next decade.
