TechFlow news, January 4 — According to CoinDesk, Louisiana Republican Representative Mike Johnson was reelected Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives with 218 votes. Johnson previously voted in favor of the FIT21 (Financial Innovation and Technology for the 21st Century Act) and anti-CBDC legislation, and is regarded as a supporter of the crypto industry.
Notably, Republican Majority Whip Tom Emmer voted in support of Johnson. Emmer has long been a staunch advocate for the cryptocurrency sector. Analysts suggest that Johnson’s reelection, coupled with Emmer continuing in his leadership role, will create favorable conditions for advancing cryptocurrency legislation in 2025.
