TechFlow reported on January 2 that Bitcoin advocate Dennis Porter disclosed Swiss legislator Samuel Kullmann is pushing for a referendum to include Bitcoin in the Swiss Constitution. The initiative requires collecting 100,000 signatures within 18 months to compel state parliaments to vote on whether to enshrine Bitcoin in the constitution. Even if ultimately unsuccessful, the signature-gathering process will compel all state parliament members to deeply understand Bitcoin. The proposal has now entered the Swiss federal government review stage.
Previous report, Switzerland plans to incorporate Bitcoin into its constitutional framework and has initiated the referendum review procedure.
