TechFlow News, December 31 — According to Bitcoin.com, Tether currently holds a total of 83,758.57 BTC worth $7.7 billion. Yesterday, a wallet associated with Tether received 7,628.92 BTC from a Bitfinex-labeled wallet, followed shortly by an additional 775.568 BTC sent to the same address.
Tether’s last increase in its Bitcoin reserves occurred in March 2024, when it acquired 8,888.88 BTC. Prior to that, on December 31, 2023, Tether also obtained 8,888.88 BTC. Given the repeated use of the auspicious number 8, some speculate that Tether may purchase another 484.4 BTC in 2024 to reach the 8,888.88 threshold once again.
Analysts suggest that Tether’s recent accumulation of BTC reflects a strategic move to strengthen its Bitcoin holdings, potentially aiming to reinforce its position within the cryptocurrency market.
