TechFlow news — On December 28, according to Jinshi Data, Google CEO Sundar Pichai told employees last week that 2025 will be "high-risk, high-stakes" as the company faces intensifying competition, regulatory hurdles, and rapid advancements in artificial intelligence. Pichai stated that "building large new businesses" is a top priority, including the Gemini app. Executives said they believe Gemini will become Google's next application to reach 500 million users. The company currently has 15 apps that have achieved this milestone. Pichai said, "The Gemini app is gaining strong momentum, especially over the past few months. But we still need to do more work in 2025 to close the gap and establish leadership in this area." He later added, "Next year, expanding Gemini on the consumer side will be our top priority." In addition, Pichai presented a large language model chart showing Gemini 1.5 ahead of OpenAI's GPT and other competitors. Pichai said, "I expect there will be some back-and-forth in 2025. I believe we will reach the state-of-the-art level. Historically, you don't always have to be first, but you must execute well and become the best in class. I think that's what 2025 is all about."
