TechFlow news, December 27 — According to The Washington Post, the prison sentences of two former executives from the cryptocurrency exchange FTX appear to have been shortened. Based on information from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons website, Ryan Salame, who began serving his sentence in October, was initially sentenced to seven and a half years but is now expected to be released in March 2031. Caroline Ellison's current projected release date is July 2026, several months earlier than her original two-year sentence.
Salame, former co-CEO of FTX’s Bahamas subsidiary, pleaded guilty to operating an unlicensed money transmitting business and violating campaign finance laws. Ellison, former CEO of Alameda Research, admitted in December 2022 to charges of wire fraud, securities fraud, commodities fraud, and money laundering.
