TechFlow reported on December 26 that, according to Business Insider, former FTX executive Salame pleaded guilty last September to conspiring to make illegal political donations and operating an unlicensed money transfer business. He was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison and began serving his sentence in October this year.
However, federal Bureau of Prisons records reviewed show that Salame's scheduled release date is set for March 1, 2031—more than a year earlier than the full term of his seven-and-a-half-year sentence.
A Bureau of Prisons spokesperson said the agency does not comment on the conditions of confinement, including release plans, for any individual in custody, but noted that under the 2018 First Step Act, incarcerated individuals may earn time off their sentences for good behavior.
