TechFlow news: On December 20, Google released an update to its financial products policy, introducing new cryptocurrency advertising rules effective January 15, 2025. Advertisers offering cryptocurrency exchange and wallet services in the UK market must be registered and authorized by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and additionally certified by Google to run ads.
The new rules clearly differentiate requirements for software and hardware wallet advertisements. Hardware wallet ads are limited to promoting private key storage functionality for assets such as cryptocurrencies and NFTs and must not include transaction services. Google stated it will issue warnings at least seven days prior to suspending accounts, allowing advertisers time to achieve compliance.
