TechFlow news, on December 20, SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce expressed optimism in an interview with Coinage about revisiting two major SEC decisions regarding crypto ETFs.
As she previously indicated in a summer conversation with Coinage, both physical redemption and enabling staking for Ethereum ETFs may be reconsidered. This time, unlike before—when under Chair Gensler’s leadership the likelihood of either happening was nearly zero—Commissioner Peirce is optimistic about these changes under the new administration.
She said that if the balance shifts from a majority of commissioners not wanting things to move forward to a majority who do want progress, then yes, things become much easier. She noted that the path forward on these two issues will become clearer after Chair Gensler departs on January 20.
