TechFlow news, December 14 — Chamath Palihapitiya, founder of Social Capital, said during an online conference that breaking the SHA-256 algorithm used by Bitcoin would require approximately 8,000 Google quantum chips.
Earlier today, Chamath Palihapitiya posted on X: "Many people have misunderstood what I said. Quantum computing poses a risk to v1 cryptographic methods, but this is not something achievable in the near term."
