TechFlow reported on December 12 that, according to Bloomberg citing sources familiar with the matter, Brian Quintenz, head of crypto policy at venture capital giant Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), has emerged as the leading candidate for the chairmanship of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Quintenz recently completed interviews for the position. He previously served as a Republican commissioner at the CFTC and currently oversees policy matters for a16z's crypto division. If ultimately appointed, this could signal a significant shift in the CFTC’s approach to cryptocurrency regulation. Both Quintenz and an a16z spokesperson declined to comment.
