TechFlow News — On December 10, SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce, also known as the "Crypto Mom," mentioned "Operation Chokepoint 2.0" during an interview with Fox Business. She outlined three things she believes need to be done under new SEC leadership after Trump takes office to bring greater clarity to the cryptocurrency industry:
1. End government regulatory chokepoints. The first step is to stop the current approach of attempting to block cryptocurrencies from accessing essential services they need, such as custody.
2. Clarify what falls outside the SEC’s regulatory scope, so it's clear which assets are not securities and which entities do not need to operate within the SEC’s regulatory framework.
3. Collaborate with entities involved in cryptocurrency to identify how existing rules apply and where adjustments are needed. This must be a collaborative effort, conducted transparently so that everyone can participate.
Peirce said she believes these goals can be achieved in a relatively short period of time.
