TechFlow reports, Farcaster co-founder Varun Srinivasan announced on social media that Snapchain, the new data layer for the Farcaster social network, will enter Alpha testing in December and aims for a full launch in Q1 2025.
Snapchain, written in Rust, is designed to handle over 10,000 TPS and support millions of daily active users. It allows users to pay an annual fee for unlimited transactions. Users create accounts by submitting a transaction to a registration contract on the OP mainnet. After account creation, users can sign Snapchain transactions using an "app key" configured through the registry.
