TechFlow news, December 5 — According to a report by "Everyday Economic News," the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province of South Korea has released its "Jeju Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation Roadmap." The plan includes establishing a digital payment system that supports converting virtual assets (such as Bitcoin) into local Jeju currency, aiming to achieve the goal of becoming a cashless international city.
The system will be compatible with payment methods from neighboring countries including China, Japan, and South Korea, eliminating the need for additional currency exchange. Jeju Province also plans to advance digital initiatives such as AI-powered remote medical diagnosis and AI-based education to address insufficient healthcare and educational infrastructure on the island. Governor Oh Yeong-hun stated that the province will fully support Jeju Island in becoming a digital innovation hub.
