TechFlow news — On December 3, according to Cointelegraph, Jorge Tenreiro, former head of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) crypto unit, is now serving as the agency’s head of litigation, overseeing legal actions and investigations nationwide. According to a job posting that has since been taken down, the position offers a salary of up to $305,000 per year.
Mark Sylvester, former assistant director of the cryptocurrency division, and Laura D'Allaird, former counsel to outgoing commissioner Jaime Lizárraga, both updated their LinkedIn profiles on December 2 to list themselves as the new co-heads of the Division of Crypto Assets and Cyber Enforcement.
Tenreiro first joined the Division of Crypto Assets and Cyber Enforcement in October 2022 as deputy chief. In that role, he led the SEC’s numerous lawsuits against major players in the crypto industry, including actions against exchanges Kraken and Coinbase, blockchain company Tron and its founder Justin Sun, as well as the prolonged legal battle against Ripple Labs.
