TechFlow News — Officially announced, Jambo and Coinbase have partnered to launch a blockchain-based Jambo smartphone priced at $99, aiming to provide low-cost on-chain financial payments and decentralized applications for users in Africa, Asia, and South America. The JamboPhone will come with Coinbase Wallet pre-integrated, enabling seamless access to on-chain applications built on the Base platform.
Jambo is a leading company dedicated to building Web3 mobile infrastructure in emerging markets. The JamboPhone is now available in over 120 countries, aiming to enhance access to global financial markets for developing regions. Data shows that approximately 57% of Africa's 1.5 billion population remain unbanked, while the unbanked ratios in Southeast Asia and Latin America stand at 50% and 26%, respectively. Through this collaboration, Jambo and Coinbase offer an affordable on-chain payment solution for users across these regions.
The JamboPhone will also serve as the prize for the "Base Around the World" regional innovation competition series, designed to inspire technological innovation in emerging markets and encourage participants to further explore on-chain technology using the JamboPhone.
