TechFlow News — On November 27, according to Cointelegraph, software development giant Oracle has filed a new lawsuit in a California federal court against cryptocurrency startup Crypto Oracle LLC and its owner Louis Kerner, alleging trademark infringement and violation of prior legal agreements.
The tech giant originally sued the crypto company in 2019, accusing it of “using Oracle’s trademark as part of its ‘CryptoOracle’ brand and leveraging that branding to market cryptocurrency-related services to Oracle’s own customers and users.” The two parties reached a confidential settlement, and in 2020 the court issued a permanent injunction barring Crypto Oracle from using the name “CryptoOracle” or any variation of Oracle’s trademarks.
However, Oracle now claims that Crypto Oracle and Kerner have resumed using the “CryptoOracle” name and branding, launched new businesses, maintained infringing domain names, and hosted events under the brand “CryptoOracle Collective,” thereby violating both the settlement agreement and the court’s injunction. Oracle accuses the defendants of trademark infringement, unfair competition, trademark dilution, cybersquatting, breach of settlement agreement, and civil contempt of court.
