TechFlow news, November 21 — According to Bloomberg, federal prosecutors in California filed charges against five members of the hacker group Scattered Spider. The prosecution alleges that from late 2021 to spring 2023, the group used phishing texts and SIM-swapping techniques to steal legitimate credentials from employees at dozens of companies, gaining unauthorized access to corporate networks and stealing sensitive data and cryptocurrency. The total value of the stolen cryptocurrency amounted to $11 million, with approximately $4 million recovered so far. Scattered Spider is reportedly a decentralized hacking group composed of young individuals from the United States and the United Kingdom, primarily using social engineering tactics to infiltrate corporate networks.
