TechFlow news, November 20: According to Fox Business citing The Washington Post, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, is considering developing a free mobile tax-filing app. Sources familiar with the matter said the discussions are still in early stages. DOGE stated on X that U.S. tax code has grown from 1.5 million words in 1955 to 16 million words today, causing Americans to spend 6.5 billion hours annually preparing and filing tax returns. The IRS currently offers a free web-based tax filing service, but it is limited to taxpayers with annual incomes below $79,000. Following this announcement, shares of several publicly traded companies providing tax services dropped.
