TechFlow news, November 20 — According to CoinDesk, sources revealed that Trump's transition team is considering appointing Teresa Goody Guillén, a partner at law firm BakerHostetler and co-leader of its blockchain practice, as chair of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Goody Guillén previously served at the SEC between 2009 and 2011 and has extensive experience in securities law.
Trump’s team is seeking a non-bureaucratic, crypto-supportive candidate to overhaul the SEC and advance lighter regulatory policies. The cryptocurrency industry has already contributed over $130 million to support Trump and other Republican candidates in this election cycle. The selection for the new SEC chair is expected to be finalized before Thanksgiving, and current SEC Chair Gary Gensler is anticipated to step down prior to Trump's inauguration on January 20 next year.
