TechFlow news, on November 14, according to The Block, Gary Gensler, Chair of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), spoke at the 56th Annual Securities Regulation Institute, once again calling for cryptocurrency exchanges to register and provide proper disclosures. He noted that digital assets other than Bitcoin, Ethereum, and stablecoins have a market capitalization of about $600 billion, accounting for less than 20% of the overall crypto market and less than 0.25% of global capital markets.
Following Donald Trump's election as president, Gensler's tenure as SEC Chair may soon come to an end. Trump has previously stated he would fire Gensler, and sources say Gensler might resign voluntarily, as past chairs have done, though he could still choose to remain as an SEC commissioner. In his speech, Gensler said, "I am proud to have worked alongside my colleagues at the SEC to protect American families' financial interests."
