TechFlow news, November 12 — According to on-site reports from Devcon, Ethereum Foundation (EF) core researcher Justin Drake unveiled a proposal to reset Ethereum's consensus layer called Beam Chain. Justin Drake noted that the Beacon Chain (Ethereum’s consensus chain) has been live for five years. Beam Chain aims to improve Ethereum in areas such as block production, staking, and cryptographic consensus, with the new design maintaining high security while enhancing performance. Drake emphasized that Beam Chain will not alter Ethereum’s roadmap but rather bundle together a set of upcoming changes. The specification for Beam Chain is expected to be finalized in 2025, with low-level coding and testing commencing in 2026, followed by consideration for mainnet deployment.
