TechFlow reports that OKLink has released its October 2024 security monthly report, revealing that blockchain security incidents across the network caused cumulative losses of approximately $181 million. Phishing scams accounted for 23.94% of total losses, amounting to about $43.53 million. REKT events accounted for 35.92% of losses, totaling around $65.32 million.
On October 11, a user on Blast lost 15,079 fwDETH—worth approximately $35 million—after signing a "permit" phishing signature. On October 16, multiple multi-signature wallets of Radiant Capital were compromised when attackers injected malicious software into hardware wallets, breaching several developers' devices. The attack was highly stealthy; while the Gnosis Safe multi-sig wallet frontend displayed legitimate transaction data, the backend simultaneously signed and executed tampered transactions, ultimately resulting in losses of about $58 million.
This month saw continuously evolving attack methods. OKLink urges users to remain especially vigilant against phishing attacks on social platforms involving "permit" and "approve" authorizations, which occurred frequently this month. When conducting on-chain operations, always carefully verify recipient addresses and do not blindly trust addresses shown in transaction records, as they may have been replaced by hackers. For multi-signature wallets, private key security must be strictly protected. Users should thoroughly verify the identity and authenticity of senders and content when handling emails related to crypto assets, and learn to use Web3 on-chain tools to mitigate risks.
