TechFlow news, according to The Information on October 28, Meta is developing its own AI search engine to reduce reliance on Google and Microsoft Bing. This search engine will deliver AI-powered conversational summaries based on real-time information and current events through Meta's AI chatbots.
According to sources, a dedicated engineering team at Meta has spent the past eight months building a relevant information database for the new search engine. Currently, AI chatbots integrated into Meta's social apps—Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp—still rely on Google and Bing to provide answers.
Notably, on October 25, Meta announced a multi-year partnership with Reuters to integrate AI chat features into its platforms, marking the company’s first major return to news content in years. Previously, Meta had shut down its "News Tab" feature and reduced distribution of political news following multiple controversies.
